Candle on the Communion Table
The candle on the Communion Table was lit on April 1st, 2007 by Keni Nuamanatua on behalf of his family, marking the departure of Tanou to overseas service. As it burns in our presence may it remind us to continually pray for Rachel and Nigel and their family until the Tanou safely returns to extinguish it.
Prayer
  • In order to be “pre-prayered” for the service, there is a time of prayer at 9-30 in the front vestry: you are all welcome.
  • Cards are in the narthex if you would like a prayer included in the Prayers of the People. On one side is an entry for a prayer request, the reverse side is an place for you to give a “Praise Report”, that is, if you have had answer to prayer - hearing answers is an encouragement to us all. They may be given to the Steward to bring forward at the Offering.

This year it is to be at 5pm at Noble Park. The theme “The Outpouring Spirit and Love of God moves hearts” offers an invitation for us through word, song, music, drama, to demonstrate how the sons and daughters in our congregations are being empowered, encouraged and enabled to proclaim the message of salvation through jesus Christ across the various cultures. The service will be followed by a BYO shared cultural meal.

Property Matters -
Work is continuing on site - there have been many visitors during the week, surveyeing, planning, preparing. Work has also commenced in moving items from the lower area and finding areas where they can still be accessible to us. The Building committee meets next Saturday at which the architect is to present early conceptual plans. After this there should be more information concerning our progress.

NUMURKAH VISIT
This has been agreed to as the first weekend in October. (6th and 7th) It may seem to be a distance away with so many oither things happening, however, please put it in your diary and try to make a commitment for the activities. Gerladine would like to begin her preparations concerning accommodation, so if you are able to offer bed and breakfast to any of the Numurkah people for the Saturday night, please speak with her.

GIPPSLAND FLOOD RELIEF
After drought and fire ravaged Gippsland, residents still grappling with the physical, emotional and financial toil of their effect are ravaged by perils of storm and flood. The UC has launched an appeal to help re-establish immediate housing needs and support children to return to school. 100% of all donations made to SHARE will be forwarded to Kilmany UnitingCare who is the Church agency working in this area. See details in the Narthex.

PRAYER POINTS: Caring and Sharing with one another
Pray for:

  • Carrum, Chelsea, Edithvale congregations and their minister Rev. Neil Peters. Neil is also Chairperson of Presbytery. Include also Di Paterson who has commenced as Lay Pastor in the group and also is developing new work in the Wells Rd Growth Corridor.

  • for those unwell, waiting surgery, in pain, or with health issues which is limiting their activity: particularly for Shiu Lal who has been in ICU, for Sunita and the family.

  • the work of the Building Development Committee as it continues making progress with its tasks - pray for the Consulting Architects who have been appointed and for the processes of approval that need to go through the various Councils and Committees of the Church and the State government Planning Authorities.

  • the continued qualitative and quantitative growth of Trinity as the Spirit of God continues to touch each of our lives and the lives of all who visit during the week.

A weekend for Lay Preachers... The role of Lay Preachers in leadership is becoming increasingly recognised. On August 25 and 26, the Synod’s Lay Ministry co-ordinators are offering a formation weekend for Lay Preachers. Topics covered will include an ‘unpacking’ of the Basis of Union, the Theology of Lay Ministry, Exploring faith in a Uniting Church context and the Code of Ethics. “We have taken a lot of effort to make it fun and enjoyable time,” said rev. Pam Kerr, Associate Director - Discipleship Education. Congregations are encouraged to pray for the lay preachers participating in the weekend. For more information about the Lay Preachers sourse, phone Pam on 9340 8800.
Our offerings help fund this ministry as does including the Church in your Will, investing some money in UC Funds Management etc. Phone 9251 5405 or visit http:/victas.uca.org/mission for more details

Thank you.
