Candle on the Communion Table
Chris Kelly-Watts lit a candle to mark his departure on 25th November with the ADF to Iraq. As his lighting of the candle burns in his memory may he constantly know that he is in ours. As it burns in our presence may it remind us to continually pray for him, for Greig and all his family until he safely returns to extinguish it

Prayer
  • In order to be “pre-prayered” for the service, there is a time of prayer at 9-30 in the front vestry: you are all welcome.
  • Cards are in the narthex if you would like a prayer included in the Prayers of the People. On one side is an entry for a prayer request, the reverse side is an place for you to give a “Praise Report”, that is, if you have had answer to prayer - hearing answers is an encouragement to us all. They may be given to the Steward to bring foward at the Offering.

CHOIR
The Choir has often been depleted because of sickness, frailty and may- be age has something to do with it as well. Consequently, commencing this year the Choir will sing during the Communion service only on the first Sunday of the month and instead of regular weekly Wednesday night practices will practice only on the Wednesday before the 1st Sunday.

Coming up in January
Saturday 20th January - Church Council meets - 9-30am
Wednesday 24th January- Home Communion
Friday 26th - United Prayer
Wednesday 31st January- Choir practice 7-30pm
Saturday 17th February - at Frankston - 4pm

EXECISE BOOKS
UCAF is joining the Mission Liason Group in its collection of new exercise books which can be purchased at Supermarkets and Office Works for only 5 cents each. Please get as many as you can and place them in the container in the Narthex and help our Mission schools and donations overseas.
FROM WESLEY YOUTH SERVICES
A letter has been received from Wesley Youth Services extending thanks and appreciation for the gifts the Trinity Uniting Church congregation donated for Christmas.

PRAYER POINTS: Caring and Sharing with one another
Pray for:

  • Interns preparing for ordination in 2007: Adan McIntosh, Ann Simons.

  • Those of our fellowship who are unwell, recovering at home, in care

  • Kit Woodfine, John Garrett (Noble Park - slowly recovering but still in ICU following a stroke) and his wife Bev and family, Carol Silverwood Ric Ackermann.

You’ve had to much technology if ....
You try to enter your pin number on the microwave.
You have a list of fifteen phone numbers to reach your family of three.
You SMS your son to let him know it’s meal time and he sends an SMS back from his bedroom “What are we having?”
Your daughter sells Girl Guide cookies via her web-site.
You instant chat several times a day to a stranger in Africia, but haven’t spoken to your next door neighbour for a couple of months.
You check the ingredients on a can of soup to see if it contains Echinacea.
Your grandmother e-mails you for a JPEG of your new baby so she can create a screen saver.
You pull into your driveway and use your mobile phone to see if anyone else is home.
Every commercial has a web-site address instead of a postal address.
You buy a new computer and a week later it is superseded and now sells for ½ the price.
The idea of using real money instead of ‘plastic’ never crosses your mind.
Cleaning up the dining room means getting the fast food containers out of the back of your car.
You don’t stay in touch with family members who don’t have an e-mail address.
You consider air-mail to be too slow.
Your idea of being organized is multi-coloured Post-It notes.
You hear most of your jokes by e-mail and not in person.
You get an extra phone line so you can get phone calls.
You get up in the morning and go on-line before you make a coffee.
You tilt you head sideways to smile.

Pray for these young Agents of Change
Hundreds of young people from around Australia and overseas have converged on Perth (WA) for NCYC 2007, which is on now . The theme for convention is Agents of Change, with key speakers/Bible Study leaders including head of World Vision, Rev. Tim Costello, Rev. Natalie Dixon from Tassie, and Dave Andrews-’a person captivated by the radical, compassionate Christ’. NCYC ‘07 Co-ordinator Jeremy Burtenshaw hops “to have a convention soaked in prayer by congregations around Australia.” If your church has young people attending, please start preparing now for the return home of these young agents of change! Visit http://agentsofchange.org.au/f or ph. Jay Robinson (Synod Youth Ministry) 9347 7199. $15,000 is being used this year to support the WA Synod’s hosting of NCYC . Your offering helps to fund this ministry, as does including the Uniting Church in your Will, investing some money in U.C Funds Management etc. Phone 9251 5405 or get more details by visiting: www.victas.uca.org.au/mission

Thank you.
