Candle on the Communion Table
Chris Kelly-Watts lit a candle to mark his departure on 25th November with the ADF to Iraq. As his lighting of the candle burns in his memory may he constantly know that he is in ours. As it burns in our presence may it remind us to continually pray for him, for Greig and all his family until he safely returns to extinguish it

Prayer
  • In order to be “pre-prayered” for the service, there is a time of prayer at 9-30 in the front vestry: you are all welcome.
  • Cards are in the narthex if you would like a prayer included in the Prayers of the People. On one side is an entry for a prayer request, the reverse side is an place for you to give a “Praise Report”, that is, if you have had answer to prayer - hearing answers is an encouragement to us all. They may be given to the Steward to bring forward at the Offering.

Coming up in March

TODAY - Lent is a time of Baptismal preparation and of reflection, personal assessment and confession. When we worship we do so in spirit, soul and body but our words and our actions ought be congruent with each other. Thus, during Lent, one way that we can express this is through the invitation to come to the rail and kneel in order to receive the elements of Communion. There are times when it is appropriate to remain in our seats and have the elements come to us but during Lent we come to the foot of the Cross of Christ in humility and in penitence and this physical act best expresses this. Following the communion and during the service, the AGM of the congregation will be held. Reports were distributed last week and are still available today - however, there has been an additional sheet which only became available during the week which contains the details of the Investment accounts. As part of the AGM we have received NOMINATIONS for Ian Bennett, Grieg Watts, Ian Spencer and Malindra Fernando to be elected onto the Church Council. Please pray about these nominations as each is serving us well in a variety of ways. Graeme will speak with each of these people after the meeting to ascertain whether they hear a call to this ministry of service and the outcome will be announced to the Congregation at a later time.
3-30pm Dandenong Hindi Fellowship meets in Hateley Hall. 5-30pm
the second of the Lent discussions. An evening meal will be provided
Tuesday March 6th Presbytery meets at Springvale
Wednesday March 7th 10-30am Lent discussion (repeat of Sunday)

LENTEN STUDIES
Our 6 week program this year will be “Christianity Explained”. This is an excellent time to look at the essentials and distinctiveness of the Christian faith and an excellent opportunity to bring those who are exploring the elements of faith or wish to develop their ability to share the faith with others. Sessions will be in the Fellowship Area commencing on Sunday 25th Feb with a shared tea at 5-30 and go to 7-30pm. The other will be on Wed 28th at 10-30am

Cheer on the Dragon Boat Team next Sunday -
This coming Sunday (11th) the UC Dragon Boat team will once again be in action as part of the Mel- bourne International Dragon Boat Festival. A strong team of paddlers has once again been assembled, with veteran cap- tain/coach Rohan Pryor at the helm. The main sponsor is UCA Funds Management and the Boat sponsors are the SHARE Community appeal and UnitingCare. Congregations can also offer financial and vocal support. Come along to the north-west side of Victoria Harbour at Docklands to cheer them on, from 9am till early afternoon. Phone the UC Promotions Officer, Dave Hall on 9251 5250 for more details.

Although the Dragon Boat team is not funded through the Mission and Service, we are able to compete in this very public event thanks to the provision of sponsors, paddlers, supporters and prayer. We can help fund ministry by including the Church in your Will, investing some money in UC Funds Manage- ment etc. Phone 9251 5405 or visit http:/victas.uca.org/mission for more details.

Thank you.
